 7 November 2011

The two new ambulance aircraft are presented to the Luxembourgish public. The technical development of the past 20 years made a restructuring of the fleet necessary. To stay abreast of the changes in aviation and medical technology the restructuring of the fleet was necessary. With the new fleet LAR starts in a new era of air ambulance.

 1 Mai 2011

On 1 May 2011, the first of the two aircraft landed at Findel airport. The LearJet 45XR is one of the most up-do-date jets of its category in terms of technology and achieves great range while consuming a minimum amount of fuel. Also, the LearJet 45XR had the advantage with its short-landing capability as well as its speed.

 February 2011

After a long phase of preparation, Skyservice Air Ambulance and European Air Ambulance EAA (a GEIE between LAR and DRF Luftrettung) organized a special reception to officially announce their collaboration. The new service also helps to accelerate the repatriation of patients from both sides of the Atlantic. No time will be lost on obligatory crew rest since the wing-to-wing transfer will take place at the end of duty time and include the handover of the patient to a fresh crew from the partner organization.
Critical patient transfers will take place in secure environments at the relevant service’s home airfield - in Canada at the Skyservice Air Ambulance bases in Montreal or Goose Bay and in Europe at the EAA bases in Luxembourg or Baden/Karlsruhe Airport. All of them have state-of-the-art medical equipment.
Such cooperation also exists with RMSI who is specialized in the evacuation of patients out of crisis regions. RMSI stabilizes the patient in that region and then flies it out to the next international and safe airport where EAA will take the patient over and continue the repatriation under optimal medical conditions.
