The role of the intensive care nurse at LAR is very diverse.

In one role they are deployed in LAR's helicopters in the area of air rescue. Here they fulfill two tasks. As a sort of co-pilot they give support to the helicopter pilots during take-off, in the search for the deployment area and during the landing. The pilot and the intensive care nurse as a team ensure that the emergency doctor assistance reaches the patient in the quickest way. At the deployment location the LAR intensive care nurse goes about his professional duties. The patient is cared for by the team together with the emergency doctor and prepared for the return transport to the hospital.

In worldwide operations the LAR nurses fly on board LAR's air ambulance aircraft. Together with the emergency doctor they collect the patient from the hospital, prepare him for the flight, care for the patient during the flight and accompany him until he has arrived at the hospital in his home country.

All LAR intensive care nurses have many years hospital experience in the area of intensive care (at least 4 years) and also many years of experience in the rescue service.
