Throughout the world LAR carries out rescue operations and intensive care transportation with its own ambulance aircraft.
The members of LAR can contact directly the LAR Control Centre on +352 27 365 365. In the case of a medical emergency this organizes the return of a patient from his current hospital bed to a hospital bed in Luxembourg.
For the repatriation of patients LAR has at its disposal a fleet of ambulance aircraft of the type LearJet 35A and LearJet 45XR.

Patients’ repatriations and organ transports are performed by Luxembourg Air Ambulance S.A. (LAA). LAA is a subsidiary of Luxembourg Air Rescue A.s.b.l. and has been founded in 1998. LAA is based at Luxembourg Airport where the company manages its hangars and offices.
LAA operates a fleet composed of five rotary-wing aircraft and four fixed-wing aircraft; all equipped as mobile intensive care units. LAA dispatches its airplanes worldwide with short delay and also does the ground handling at the International Airport of Luxembourg. LAA undertakes its own line maintenance facility. All these services are executed under the statute of LAA and are compliant with European aviation regulations.

In the field of repatriation  and on behalf of insurance companies and other organizations which do not have their own air rescue fleet or employees such as pilots, doctors, or intensive care nurses, LAR and DRF Luftrettung operate seven ambulance aircraft to undertake ambulance transports worldwide under the name of European Air Ambulance (EAA).
